5 Fandom Friday – Favorite Fictional Fathers

This week has come and gone so fast! I really wanted to get this done on time, but stuff happens. The topic for the 5 Fandom Friday is Favorite Fictional Fathers, which I absolutely love! There are so many father figures out there that deserve recognition for the important and badass example that they serve as.

1. John Kane – Haywire

haywire3 First of all, this movie is one of the most perfect action flicks out there and happens to have a woman ( Gina Carano ) as the lead. Yes! She kicks so much butt, and Stephen Soderbergh directs the tale with epic grace. Bill Paxton plays her father and he shows throughout the film how well he has loved and raised his daughter. The Kanes are a tiny family who are loyal, well-trained, no-nonsense, respectful, intelligent, and know how to take care of business.

2. Bob – The Watch

imagesIn The Watch, a delightful alien comedy, Vince Vaughn is a father who joins the neighborhood watch and worries about his teenage daughter going out with boys. It’s adorable and I have told my husband that if we ever have a daughter, he better channel Vince in this movie! I mean, aliens are invading earth with an evil plan and he bails on a recon mission because his baby girl might be in trouble at a crazy party. He does not even think about it, off he goes to make sure she is okay:) That’s what I’m talking about!

3. Gru – Despicable Me 1 & 2

gru-fairyprincess-dm2632Gru is such a lovely father figure in the Despicable Me series! He is so full of love for his girls, and he has no problem showing it. A man that dresses in a fairy princess costume while being lowered by rope from the rooftops so that his daughters are not disappointed is a worthwhile and amazing one.

4. Mr. Mansfield – Ground Floor

B8ajmh2IMAA7tCVJohn C. McGinley as Mr. Mansfield is an all-around papa bear to everyone around him. Expect for stupid, disrespectful, or horrible people of course. He is a font of fatherly advice, loves his family without reservation, and the people who earn his friendship can count on him to back them up whenever needed. And he’s just so adorable!

5. Ron Swanson – Parks and Recreation

Another all-around papa bear, Ron Swanson reminds me of my grandfather in every episode and I love it. As head of the Parks Department, Ron is there for people whenever he is truly needed. That mustache has the ability to swoop in and save the day every single time. It is a magical mustache. When he finally meets his match ( the lovely Lucy Lawless ) in season 5 along with her two girls, it officially completes his pack. His friends and his family are very lucky people.
